Momo’s last concert of the semester is coming up!  We are singing in the Chapel on L&C’s campus with 4 other a cappella groups, as part of an organization that we like to call the Acabrella.

When: Wednesday, Dec. 9th, 2009 – 8pm (Last day of classes!)

The concert will benefit the Can Tho Orphanage. We will be selling baked goods as well as some non-edibles to raise money, so bring some cash-ola to support a wonderful cause.

Doors will open 20-30 minutes before the show. Get there early for the best seats! Its free, no tickets required. Remember, it’s in the chapel this year!

CDs are available for free at Maggie’s Café on Lewis & Clark’s campus, and the album is free to download on this site.

The album features 16 songs from the group’s eclectic repertoire, from old favorites such as Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” to new additions like Michael Bublé’s “Feeling Good.”

“Joh Eh Ba Dop” is the second album from Momo & The Coop since the group’s inception in 2005.  The album marks the farewell of the founding members of the group, who began Momo & The Coop four years ago on a college campus that did not have any a cappella groups, and now leave Lewis & Clark with a healthy student a cappella scene.

The album was recorded in various locations – the Evans music center and Howard Hall on campus, as well as a member’s dorm room.  It was mixed and mastered in Chicago, IL and released by the group with funding from the Student Academic Affairs Board and the Alumni Office.

Zein is our new addition on the male front – a tenor and a freshman at L&C.  Kenna will become our newest soprano, and three freshman will join Jess in the alto section – Linnea, Carly, and Alison.

Our new members were judged solely on their good looks and rated on a “coolness” scale from 1 to freezing cold.  Singing ability was taken into account later, and lip-syncing is always a possibility.

Going home for the summer to Chicago, Jonah’s friend Dorian mixed the tracks and mastered them to ready them for production.  At the end of the summer, Mac (a bass in the group) began making the album art for the album.  The Master CD and album artwork were sent to a production company in Texas at the beginning of the fall 2009 semester.

The group received funding from Lewis & Clark’s Student Academic Affairs Board (SAAB) and it’s Alumni Office.  The group’s sophomore album, “Joh Eh Ba Dop” gets its name from one of the album’s songs, “Long Train Runnin’/Black Water” by The Doobie Brothers.  The title is the first four syllables that are sung in the song.  The 16-track album includes old favorites such as “Iris,” “Billie Jean,” and “I’d Rather Dance With You,” as well as new songs like “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” and “Feeling Good.”

The album will be released October 2009, and will be free with donations accepted.  All tracks on the album will be downloaded for free on momoandthecoop.com.
